Giving hope to women and children of Kenya.

In Kenya, over forty percent of women and girls from age fifteen and older have experienced physical violence, with many cases going unreported due to limited resources.

These women are unable to escape their difficult circumstances because there is nowhere to go and no support to be had.

Imani Rescue Center is here to change that.

We are currently building a shelter for women & children looking to escape domestic violence.

Not only will we provide a place to go, we will also provide education & training so that these women can create their own income and become independent.

Our goal is to give a hand up, not a hand-out.

Meet Critical Needs

At our Center, we will meet the basic and critical needs of women and children fleeing domestic violence. Critical needs include opportunities to provide medical assistance, extra food and nutritional supplements, income-generation training, access to clean and safe water, and other necessities.

Create Independent Women

Many women in Kenya have few opportunities for education or job training, which means that the men are the primary breadwinners for most families. This leaves women feeling trapped in domestic abuse, with few options to sustain themselves.

At Imani, we not only give women a safe place to go to for rescue, but help them develop skills to earn a living so they can become independent.

Our Vision.

Kenya is a country full of beauty and nature, but also a country where growing numbers of women are living in abusive circumstances with nowhere to go for help. Over forty percent of women and girls from age fifteen and older have experienced physical violence, with many cases going unreported due to limited resources. We have witnessed this first-hand during our many trips to Kenya over the years.

Our dream of over a decade has been to build a rescue center for abused women and orphaned children in Kenya, East Africa. With help from people just like you, we will build a center to support these families and help them break free of the cycle of abuse.

Our mission is to bring hope to these women and children through our not-for-profit organization, Imani Rescue Center International.

Who We Are

We are Terry & Veronicah Richards, current residents of Kimana, a small town in southern Kenya. Several years ago, we were brought together under the most unlikely of circumstances. Veronicah was living and working in her native country of Kenya when she met Terry at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro on the very last day of his mission trip to Kenya in 2005 when his van broke down…
